Crohn’s disease

Crohn’s disease is poorly understood in our society.  It is a serious condition requiring significant changes to diet to maintain appropriate nutrition, may require regular medication and can require surgery. If you have this condition or know someone who does, you may find these resources helpful to understand it better.

  • This website has comprehensive information about Crohn’s disease and colitis.
  • This book is a good resource for newly diagnosed people.
  • This interview Sick in the Land of the Well by Richard Fidler from Conversations with radio presenter Jacinta Parsons highlights the insidious onset of Crohn’s disease and the difficulty of obtaining a diagnosis.
  • This interview with Georgie Dent interviewed by Mia Freedman in No Filter highlights the development of extreme anxiety starting in early adulthood with the onset of endometriosis and Crohn’s while also working at a law firm. She did not recognise the toll on her mental health until she began collapsing with vertigo and was admitted to the Currumbin Clinic (Queensland) for in-patient care.
